Looking at things Differently

PACE was absolutely amazing. After PACE it was very evident that I was doing much better in my school work because of how it taught me to think effectively. Specifically, it increased my visual memory and it gave me new ways to look at and tackle different projects.

Highly Recommended!

Two of my children have been through the PACE program. My daughter, who had been diagnosed with a processing/learning disability, felt very frustrated and lost with school work. Working through the PACE program helped her gain confidence and skills. She was often surprised at the material that she was able to remember and apply to new areas of learning. Her reasoning and processing became sharper and she learned focusing skills that she previously had struggled with. She especially benefited from learning how to make word pictures/stories for information that she would study. This helped her improve her test taking at school and being able to recall information when needed. My son also participated in PACE. He struggled with phonics and blending of sounds for a very long time. This made reading, especially reading aloud, very difficult and embarrassing for him. After going through PACE and Master the Code his reading skills improved greatly. He tackled new words with greater

confidence and skill than before. His ability to sound out words and recognize blends also improved. Reading became less of a challenge and more of a delight to him after PACE. Like my daughter, he also benefited from the

word picture association of studying information. They both increased their work time as well. I would highly recommend PACE to any parent who has a child that struggles with work speed, skill development, or work confidence. I am very pleased with the results that we saw through PACE.

Now Reading For Pleasure

We were very pleased with the PACE program! Our son was a slow, halting reader often guessing at words and mispronouncing them. After a few months on PACE, not only did his oral reading skills improve, but for the first time I

noticed he was reading for pleasure! I was amazed at the variety and complexity of the “brain challenges” PACE contains. The exercises are

useful for strengthening a multitude of academic skills. Melissa is an excellent instructor, possessing a beautiful balance of firmness and fun. She never made our son feel stupid or backward, gently pushing him to do his best. She always emphasized that each individual is created uniquely, with their particular strengths and weaknesses. I am convinced that PACE can help with many of those academic weaknesses.

From Struggling to Thriving!

I always knew that Charlotte, our amazingly creative and talented daughter, was more capable than her grades indicated. Charlotte worked really hard and yet always seemed to struggle. One of her teachers, who was also a good friend of mine, suggested that we try PACE with Melissa Alsup because of the success that her own children had experienced with the program. We decided to give it a try, even though I could not see how MORE work was going to solve the problem of not being able to get the school work done in the time allowed.

Doing PACE with Melissa changed our family’s interactions with school work and homework. Before completing PACE, we would argue about the need to stay focused on the work at hand and to complete assignments without having to ‘take a break’ every 5 minutes. After completing the PACE program in 9th grade, Charlotte was able to complete the work assigned within a reasonable time and without constant supervision. Her grade improved and our conversations became more about the actual content than about overcoming the inertia to even attempt the assignment. Looking back now, I really wish that we had done the program sooner! This May Charlotte is graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Va Tech) with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. She even made Dean’s List along the way! She will be pursuing a Master of Arts and professional certification in School Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University starting a few weeks after graduation. We have Melissa Alsup and PACE to thank for changing the trajectory of our daughter’s academics from struggling to thriving!
